Bittensor, AI modalities and TAO decntralization
Fri Nov 18, 2022 3:18 pm
The modality currently in use by Bittensor is the TEXT modality, since they have capped the number of nodes to be able to achieve close to the state-of-the-art in text generation or analysis they are not offering any other modalities.
The team of Bittenor is working towards other modalities through the creation of a subnetwork. This will be a subnetwork within the same blockchain for validating text, images, audio and so on.
In the near future an extension for having multimodal models - things like stable diffusion or DALL-E - deployed on the network.
Also, TAO is not decentralized as of now which makes it useless outside of the network but it will have decentralized efficiently making it useful and legally available on exchanges.

Will the text modality be only in one language? Considering t is a universal network it would be amazing to see that the TEXT Modality is available in several languages. I will provide opportunities for people all over the world, allowing in the truest sense it will become decentralized and open multiple avenues. Is there anywhere we can suggest this idea to the network producers?

It is unclear if the TEXT modality currently used by Bittensor is available in multiple languages. The team is reportedly working on creating a subnetwork for other modalities, including text in different languages, images, audio, and more. In the future, they may also extend the network to support multimodal models for a wider range of applications that I believe will be available on the same sub-network.

As for TAO, it is not currently decentralized as has also been mentioned above, but the team is working towards making it efficient and legally available on exchanges. It is unclear if there is a way for individuals to suggest ideas for the network, such as adding support for multiple languages in the TEXT modality. It may be worth reaching out to the team through their website or social media channels to inquire about this.
